Ripna Beach, Korcula – Remote South Coast Bay Between Čavica Luka and Pupnatska Luka
Ripna is a small pebble bay on the southern coast of Korcula, between Čavica Luka to the west and Pupnatska Luka to the east. It sits in an undeveloped stretch of coast that sees very few visitors – the bays on either side of it are better known, and most people who drive to this part of the south coast head directly to Pupnatska Luka without stopping. Ripna is the kind of place that rewards the decision to slow down and explore rather than heading straight to the obvious destination. No facilities, no road to the waterline, no crowds. Clear water, white pebbles and complete quiet.

The Beach and Bay
The bay is compact and sheltered – a small pebble beach in a natural inlet with the rocky coast extending in both directions. The water is clean and clear, typical of this undeveloped stretch of south coast. Snorkelling around the rocky edges of the bay is good – the same clear visibility and marine life as the neighbouring bays. The pine and maquis vegetation comes close to the waterline in places, providing partial shade.
The south-facing position means Ripna catches sun throughout the day and faces open water towards Lastovo. The Siloko south-easterly reaches the bay directly – check conditions before swimming in strong south-easterly weather.
Getting to Ripna
Road from Pupnatska Luka reaches the bay directly. Access is also on foot from the surrounding area – from Čavica Luka to the west or from the road above on a path through the coastal vegetation. The walk from the nearest parking area is 15-20 minutes on rough terrain. By boat, the bay is accessible from anywhere on the south coast and is a natural stop on a circuit of the eastern south coast bays. No public transport. No facilities – bring everything you need. Water shoes essential.

Ripna in Context
Ripna sits in the middle of one of the least developed stretches of coast on the island – between Čavica Luka to the west and Bačva and Pupnatska Luka to the east. A boat trip covering this entire stretch of coast in a single day – Ripna, Čavica Luka, Žitna, Zavalatica – gives you a perspective on the south coast that no road-based visit can match. The coastline here is rocky, dramatic and almost entirely natural. Hiring a small motorboat from Korcula Town for the day is the most practical way to explore it properly.
