How to get from Korcula to Dubrovnik?

If you are a foot passenger, there is a fast ferry catamaran that departs daily from Korcula Old Town to Dubrovnik (Gruz ferry port). This is the most convenient and fastest way to travel. If you are driving and need a car ferry, there are no direct car ferries between these two places. You have to cross to Orebic (Peljesac) by car ferry and continue from there to drive across the Peljesac Peninsula and along the coast to Dubrovnik.

The three companies that run passenger ferries from Korcula to Dubrovnik are Krilo (Kapetan Luka)TP Line, and Jadrolinija. All ferries depart from Korcula Town port and arrive at the same terminal in Gruz ferry port in Dubrovnik (see location map here). See a short departure/boarding video here.

Important Note: 

In case of bad weather, the catamaran (fast passenger ferries) is not sailing. In such circumstances, you have to travel via Orebic by ferry and bus or private transfer (see details below)

By Car Ferry & Driving from Korcula to Dubrovnik

There are no direct car ferries connecting Korcula and Dubrovnik. So, if you are driving, you have just one option (check also the map below):

  • Step 1: Cross to the mainland by a car ferry from Korcula to Orebic (sails up to 15 times a day – see detailed schedule at croatiaferries.com website)
  • Step 2: Drive from Orebic to Dubrovnik via Ston (Doli) using roads D414 & D8.

By this shortest and fastest driving route, you can reach Dubrovnik from Korcula in about 2 hours. The car ferry route is operated by Jadrolinija (tickets) Traveling on this route your driving time will be:

Driving tip

Until the summer of 2023, the Prapratno to Ston (Doli) section of the road (about 8 km), due to Peljesac Bridge access roadworks, this drive can take a bit longer than usual. Upon all works being completed, the driving time between Orebic and Ston (Doli) will be reduced to 35 minutes only.

By Bus

If you prefer to travel by bus, you can get a bus from Korcula daily at 06:45 arriving in Dubrovnik at 09:55. Bus departs from Korcula’s bus terminal and gets on a car ferry to Orebic and from there drives to Dubrovnik. Buses are not frequent, they run just once a day. It takes over 3 hours and costs 13.5 Euro one way (check schedules & get a ticket)

By Water Taxi (Private Boat Transfer)

A water taxi (private boat transfer) is the quickest way to travel between these two places. The cost is 1000 Euro for groups of up to 7 people and it takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. It can be a great option if the weather is perfect and money is no problem. It is also a good option for a large(er) group of travelers. However, due to unpredictable weather, especially in the winter months, taxis or private car transfers are more reliable (see below). Get a water taxi quote here.

By Taxi or Private Car Transfer

taxi ride between Korcula and Dubrovnik lasts just over 2 hours including a car ferry crossing to Orebic. The current price quoted to me is 195 Euros. This is a good option if 3 or more people travel together and share the costs. You can lower the costs a bit by crossing the channel to Orebic as a foot passenger and taking a taxi from there to Dubrovnik. Get a taxi quote.

Korcula to Dubrovnik Airport

To travel to Dubrovnik Airport, you have the following options:

  • Option 1: Get a direct bus or taxi from Korcula to the Airport – book in advance with a local taxi or agents
  • Option 2: Get a ferry to Dubrovnik & a bus or taxi to the Airport – buses and taxis are very close to the ferry port (see details here)
  • Option 3: Water taxi to Cavtat (a small coastal town near the airport) & taxi from there to the Airport (about 3 km distance) – Note: for this option, beware of the bad weather, avoid it in the winter months.
